Today students worked the hardest I have seen all year!
In Math, we looked at saying, writing, expanding, and drawing numbers. The focus of our next few days in Math will be representing numbers in different ways. In Language Arts, students used their knowledge of our Social Studies vocabulary to complete sentence frames. Sentence frames are a great tool because they help students learn to use specific vocabulary, and also sharpen their thinking skills on proper sentence organization. In Social Studies, students learned how to organize ideas in a simple web graphic organizer. Tomorrow they will be applying this skill to their own research. We have been doing lots of running games in Phys Ed to prepare for the Terry Fox run! Students are building both their speed and stamina (while getting in a great workout!) After recess, students finished typing a fall writing sample in their Google docs. Then, they learned how to save it to their computer, and upload it as an artifact. This writing sample will be visible to me, and will be used as formative assessment for what we need to work on in writing this year. Don't forget to sign up for a conference time this week! :) Miss Mielke
