Dear Families,
As we close out another year, we thought we could bring some school spirit to the building. We will be having a special theme each day next week. Your student is more then welcome to participate. Monday: Jersey and Hat Day Tuesday: Crazy Hair Day Wednesday: Ugly Sweater Day Thursday: Pajama and Stuffy Day On Thursday December 20, 2019, from 2:00-3:45pm, Parent Council will be hosting a movie afternoon. The movie will be the Netflix special Klaus. Klaus is a about a simple act of kindness that always sparks another, even in a frozen, faraway place. When Smeerensburg’s new postman, Jesper, befriends a toymaker Klaus, their gifts melt an age-old feud and deliver a sleigh full of holiday traditions. Students are welcome to wear their PJ’s and bring a stuffed animal. Parent Council will be providing popcorn and a juice box. Also, students will be coming home with their report card, so please look for it and return the signed envelope on January 6, 2020. Have a great Winter Break!

Next Friday, December 13, the PLP class will be hosting a bake sale! All students are welcome to purchase treats for 25 cents each.
Last weeks field trip to the National Music Center turned out to be a great success! We had the chance to look at so many different instruments, technology, and displays. Our guide was fantastic and we learned a lot while also having some time to play some interesting instruments we had never heard of before. We were so inspired that we thought we would try to make our own instruments. We've been planning and designing our instruments the last few days but tomorrow we will have the afternoon to create something awesome!
Our 12 Days of Fitness has been going well and we've been introduced to some great new workouts. We definitely have had some sore muscles these past few days but we've been feeling fantastic and have become more focused. If you could make sure our students have proper footwear and clothing during our Gym class that would be very helpful. In Social Studies our class has been loving learning about dinosaurs and paleontology. It's been so cool to hear about these creatures that used to wander around Alberta. We've even been keeping our eyes out for any fossils that might be in Calgary. In math we have been working on our skip counting. Ask your kid to count by 2's, 3's, 4's, or 5's and they should be able to get all the way to 100 no problem. |
