Over the last few days, we have been having lots of fun getting to know each other in Room 20!
This morning we started off with a communication challenge. One student had to explain (using ONLY words) how to draw a picture to a partner who could not look at the picture. In Math, students learned a game that connected to yesterdays work, of finding multiple ways to represent the number 20. Its called "Make 20" and can be played at home with just a deck of cards! I highly recommend students and parents playing math game together at home to reinforce concepts and practice mental math. Music has been awesome this week! We are lucky to have the Ms. Cook as our music teacher this year! In Social Studies, I tested students knowledge of our place in the world with a little mapping activity. We will be focusing on quality of life in Alberta, and learning about Alberta's past for the first have of the school year. Tomorrow we are starting a routine that will span for the entire year. Every Friday, I will meet students outside first thing in the morning for a short walk around the school yard. It is a great chance to get in some physical activity, and build relationships. Please ensure your child is always dressed appropriately for the weather. :) Miss Mielke
