Today in math we reviewed adding 2-digit numbers, and used base ten pictures to demonstrate our process.
In writing, our focus continues to focus on developing content of writing by adding more details. Today the students had a mini-lesson on descriptive or "juicy" words, and then completed a similar task to last week where they had to add details to a "basic" piece of writing. In partner reading, we are now well into our Chapter Book Challenge! Students put a marble in a jar for every chapter book that they read. So far we already have 5 marbles in the jar! When it is full students will get a special reward! We were back to soccer today and will continue soccer for at least the next week. I also taught the game "Categories" to the kids. Homework tonight: Teach your family how to play! We finished our second round of Reader's Theatre with the Elephant and Piggie books. Students will continue to have opportunities to read and speak in front of others on a daily basic. After recess, students were introduced to our new Science unit: Animal Life Cycles. This unit will rely heavily on student research and observation- it will definitely be a challenge that I hope they are up to! Reminders: study for spelling test! :) Mrs. Rowein
