This morning in Math we continued work with regrouping base tens. Yesterday the students used blocks to concretely model their thinking. Today they used pictures. A big goal for many students in math is to organize their work so that it is legible, and makes sense. Remember, one of the areas of assessment in Math is on students ability to communicate their mathematical thinking! This means to either write about it, verbally explain, draw, or use concrete or numerical models.
In Language Arts, students added details to a basic paragraph to make it more interesting. I was actually quite impressed with the creative ideas students came up with! In Phys. Ed, we played our first modified game of soccer. Students played hard, demonstrated positive sportsmanship, and had fun! It was enjoyable to watch them. Most students are on the final stages of their iMovie, which is recording their voices as they narrate the picture slideshow they've put together. We are continuing to work on a second round of Reader's Theatre over the next two weeks. We also took a bit of time today to practice tomorrow's spelling words. Don't forget spelling test tomorrow!
