This month, we have been focusing on nutrition every day! Today students received a copy of Canada's food guide. This year, Canada's food guide was completed revamped. The new food guide does not include a required number of servings, but rather a visual of what every meal should look like. The new food guide also gives healthier whole grains and meat/alternatives option than the previous guide. That being said, the previous food guide still has the same information on what to eat the most of (vegetables and whole grains), and includes facts about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. I have posted a link to the "new" food guide below. On this same website, you will find nutrition tips, and healthy recipes.
Students homework for the week: choose a healthy meal you enjoy and HELP your parents prepare it! With the right training and supervision, students at this age are capable of washing and prepping fruits and vegetables, and measuring and mixing ingredients. I'm excited to hear about what everyone cooks up! https://food-guide.canada.ca/en/ :) Mrs Rowein
