Today students started a new writing task in Language Arts. They will be writing an informative paragraph on a topic of their choice. In order to be successful, they need to choose a topic that they already have lots of knowledge on. Today we brainstormed topics together, students chose their individual topic, and planned out 5-7 facts about it that they want to include in their paragraph.
This was our math problem today- it took students two days to find a solution! Try it at home. There are chickens and goats together in a pen. In total, there are 32 animal legs. How many chickens, and how many goats are there? Find all possible solution. All week we have been watching tutorials from artists and practicing realistic facial features. Today we finally practiced the smile. Tomorrow we will be putting it all together (with our own unique twists of course!) to create realistic self portraits. It is incredible how much students have improved during this process, as well as how calm and focused they have been throughout. In Phys. Ed, we have been playing keep-up with beach balls. Today, students were taught the proper volleyball pass, and practiced passing with me. In Math we have just started a new unit on measurement. This year is the first time grade 3's are expected to use standard units. Today we looked at what a centimeter is, and students practiced measuring a range of items around the classroom. Reminders for tomorrow: Yoga! Spelling test! Field trip forms due! Library! :) Mrs. Rowein
