This is already shaping up to be a busy week in Room 20!
In Math, students are working on their Dream Home project. The project involves them having too design their dream home, and measure the area and perimeter of each room. Next up for math is measuring weight and learning about mass! In Language Arts today, students had their first Literature Circles. Some struggled with having to stay on task independently, and respond to their reading to the best of their ability. We will keep trying though! By grade 3 and 4, it is important that kids are given a chance to take responsibility for their own learning and behavior. In Phys Ed this week we are working on basketball skills. By Thursday, we will be learning some simple basketball-style games that can be played on the compound during recess. In Science, this week is all about the Earth! Students have learned how nature naturally recycles organic waste. They have also learned the benefits of composting, and the negative effects of throwing organic waste into the landfill. Next up, is trying to convince our school community to bring small compost bins into each classroom! On Thursday, we will be connecting with the Kindergarten class for some special Earth Day activities. The grade 3s and 4s will be helping the Kindergarten to plant a seed, then doing a school-yard clean-up with them. Thursday is also our student teacher, Ms. HIllier's last day. It has been so wonderful having her here- we will be sad to see her go! This is a short week. There is not school on Friday or next Monday.
