Spring is in the air and we are feeling refreshed after a week's break!
Yesterday in Math, students reviewed their estimation and measurement skills before completing an assessment today. Our next step is to transfer these skills to geometry. In Language Arts, we are reviewing the "jobs" for literature circles, and reading a series of short stories. Yesterday we read "A Family is a Family is a Family" and students wrote a connection response about what makes their own family unique. Today we read "The Sun is Kind of a Big Deal," and students identified and described meaning of some new scientific words. Our student teacher, Ms. Hillier, will be with us for the next few weeks. Yesterday she introduced our Science unit, Waste in Our World, and students made predictions and observations about a disposed banana peel. In Health this month, we will be focusing on making healthy choices including personal hygiene, health and wellness, and saying no to dangerous substances. For those who were unable to make it to student conferences, please feel free to email me to schedule a meeting if you would like to discuss your child's progress. Today art was sent home that was on display at conferences. Have your child explain our creative process with you. Reminder: Library, spelling test, and yoga on Friday!
